This is my "craft" I've been working on for the past couple of days. I've been having a "working holiday" this Spring break. I never seem to have the time to research websites etc, but feel like lately its hurt my job prospects not to have an online portfolio. After some frustration, I just dove into it.

the specifics )

My question... (I'm NOT selling anything, beyond myself, I guess)what kind of impression does this give you? Is it easily navigated? Is it professional enough? Are there things in there that don't "sell" as well or don't seem up to the level of other things? I'm a Costume Designer, to give you context.

There are a few dead links, esp. in produced works, where I still am filling in the blanks, so I'm more interested in structure and impression than strength of content, i guess.
As always, if this is an inappropriate place to post, let me know.

I just created a new LJ community specifically for artists & crafters who have CUTE items for sale and for the people who just enjoy looking at (and hopefully PURCHASING) them! Please check it out: [livejournal.com profile] cute4sale

(Community promotion appears to be okay in this community, but if it's not, please let me know and I will remove this post!)

And so this post isn't text only, behind the cut is a Yoda doll I made for my infant nephew. He's made from terry cloth and his head jingles and his body crinkles. :) He's not for sale, so I can't post him in [livejournal.com profile] cute4sale , but I thought you might enjoy seeing him here. :)

Yoda! )

Thanks for reading! :)

So I needed a bag for my Nikon D-40 seeing I often take it to sporting events with me. Seeing I go to both indoor and outdoor sporting events the weather is always an issue when it comes to the camera cause I need to keep it from the rain and snow, so here's what I came up with, it's padded inside to keep the camera safe, and then the seatbelts give it a sturdy, weather protection from the outside elements:) I'm not a professional photographer (yet;)) so i didn't need a huge camera bag, just something that I can carry with me and keep me from worrying about the camera:)

i have a bunch of gift bags from my baby shower. they range in size from rather large to small. they are just sitting here collecting dust and taking up space. i would like to make something out of them that my son and i will be able to look at and remember my pregnancy with.

i checked memories but did not find anything that seemed like it would fit.

:\ i am stumped!

so, i've posted some things i've made/painted here, but thought it'd be fun to show my new creative space! i just completed it today, so i'm uber excited to show some photos.

living with the parents doesn't give too much room to be as creative with my space as i'd like, but i've managed to do what i can with the space that i do have. having a space dedicated to my crafting and art is way more awesome than painting on the floor with a bunch of newspaper.

so yay!

{ the little nook in my bedroom }
now dedicated to my crafting & art!

xo,
steppie

p.s. show me photos of your space!

I did some new seed ornaments (I had a big order and made extras) and I love how they turned out. I used new food coloring to paint them (on both sides) and they turned out so much brighter than the last ones I used. I also did some Easter bunny s but I don't have pictures of them yet.

These ornaments are made of handmade paper (recycled bills and printer paper) and each side is painted by hand with food coloring. Inside of the ornament are Butterfly Garden flower seeds. Remove the ribbon and tag, plant the ornament outside, water regularly and before you know it, you will have a beautiful flower garden.

Hi.

I made this cake for my friend Ryan's birthday. I'm a generally low-income person so I usually have to make stuff for presents. I was in a hurry so I made him a cake.

Ryan and his cake!

Oh, but there's more! )

Some nights it's nice to just kick back and make monsters. I mean honestly. How great of world is it when something so ridiculous is what one's evening consists of?
