I have come upon a small bags worth of vintage buttons. What on earth can I do with these?

I apologize in advance for the text only post...

I'm home sick today and thought I'd try to be productive and pre-wash some fabric for a quilt I'm planning to make soon. My question is about the temperatures for washing and drying the fabric. It's all basic quilting cotton, so I know there's a pretty good chance it will shrink some. Should I wash it and dry it on hot so I can get all the shrinkage out of the way?

I've only made one quilt before, and at the time I wasn't that worried about the technical aspects like the pre-washing because the quilt was for myself, but because this quilt is going to be a graduation gift for a dear friend of mine, I really don't want to screw it up. Thanks for any help you lovely people can give me. =)

You use acetate rayon velvet, so basically you're melting it for lack of better word when you iron over the stamp and that creates an "embossed" look. Well can you use any stamps that have deep ridges, like a daisy stamp or a dog paw stamp or a unicorn rainbow stamp, or should it be kept to letter stamps only?

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting married 20 June, and I need something for my hair. I'd like to wear tsumami kanzashi with pearls, but I don't know what type of pattern. If anyone has a pattern to suggest or a piece for sale, please let me know. I'm wearing the earrings and pendant from the Mikimoto Olive collection here http://tinyurl.com/olivemiki

thank you very much!

Does anyone have a tutorial or link to tutorial on how to line a dress, and how to create a bubble hem? The material I'm working with is satin, so if anyone has any tips/tricks on working with it, anything would be great :)

Just so it's not just text only:

I have a 1960s vintage shift dress with long sleeves that I would like to remove. Anyone have any tutorials on how to do this? I have a machine or can do it by hand. Sorry if this is an obvious question, I'm very new to sewing.

I checked the memories and didn't see anything.

Thanks :)

I reconstructed some T-shirts.

I didn't do any before pics, but they were just shirts, you know...lol

I have 3 tops that I fixed up.

Under the cut.

Skinny Puppy, Misfits, and As I Lay Dying )

And a sewing question...
I mean, I feel stupid.

But the thread in the bobbin keeps breaking.
I'll be in the middle of sewing, and just ugh!!!!
So I'm curious if it's just the kind/quality of thread, or what, you know.
I don't think I'm threading it wrong...
But the thread gets wrapped around the bobbin all stupid and crazy, and gets like tangled in the machine.
>_<

I mean, it's stupid.
Like, every 5 minutes, I need to rethread it. It is so annoying, and then, my needle, just all of the sudden broke. It was weird. I was looking at it, and turning the knob to put it in the fabric, and it hadn't even gone into the fabric and it just snapped.

I think my machine is possessed. :/

Well any help would be awesome. Thanks <3

I have a text-only question-y post about sewing machines.
Does anyone have a Toyota Jet Black machine, and is it any good (sturdy, intuitive to use, etc.)?
Recently, through college, I've used a Husqvarna/Huskystar E20, which is lovely, but that Toyota is so pretty. I've been considering buying myself a sewing machine for a while now, and figure I might as well do it sooner rather than later.
Thanks very much for any help.
