Hello everyone, this is my first postie  but I have been admiring  all your lovelies for a while now. I havent "crafted" in some time ( at least nothing I've finished more than half way through).  I realized I was broke as a poke but had a birthday party to go to so I whipped up a quickie Birthday present of stuff I had laying around the house.  I put this little one together in about 4 hours and even though she looks abit sloppy, I was darned proud....  (beware of BIIIG image)

Behold!!! )

28 hand painted (by me) "mushroom" bags. If I get my way, these will be filled with tissue paper, boxes of nerds, and a customized "Magic The Gathering" card with a picture of myself and the man beast and some goofy flavor text :) However that is a work in progress, so enjoy step one!

.

and because I forgot last time, here is our Lon Lon Ranch Milk bottle/ring jar:

which works as such:

Thank you for putting up with the crappy cell pics, I promise that as soon as my  new battery arrives, I will retake all of these pictures!
I must give credit where credit is due, I printed the label off of here and I am quite thankful to sliter for making that graphic available to us mere mortals, because I royally blow at photoshop!

And in case someone out there hasn't figured it out yet, FH and I are major nintendo nuts (Mario& Zelda esp.) . I just realized that on top of my fire flower bouquet, my CC wedding dress is red & white ....remind you of someone??

A sperate issue: I want to make my fiance a pirahna plant boutenniere, any suggestions on how to go about that?

x-posted

edit: Ye gods, I just realized that it's been a while since I mentioned WHY I am having a Comic Con wedding. This is "our" wedding ceremony where we get to do anything we want to do, and not worry about anyone elses expectations. In fact, this is a completely unofficial ceremony, but I have a feeling that it will be the best of the two (the other is a formal catholic ceremony which will be in March). Anyways, just felt that I should clear that up. Sorry this entry is so long!

I had quite a few leftover scraps of curtain samples I got years ago from a website I cannot remember. Naturally, when I bought my new camera I realized I needed a proper cover for it. I didn't want to buy one for ten or twenty dollars so when I had some time to kill yesterday I decided to make a casing for it. I sewed together some scraps and used some leftover denim for "batting". The sewing isn't fantastic but it looks better in person and it does its job! :)

I finally finished the two color cushion/pillow I was making for my friends' wedding. I worked from 5pm on the 9th until 10am on the 10th. Straight, no sleep. I was mad at the back, every time I measured it against the front I had just one or two rows left...Literally every time. At 9am I bound the rows off and began sewing the two together- 92 sts as the pattern called for was too long, and it was just barely wide enough. I cried while sewing it up and wailed that they wouldn't like it but I had nothing else to give them.

They loved it! Said it matched their furniture perfectly. I was so relieved and ecstatic. Here's the finished product.

Pillow

Sorry for the size, I haven't figured out how to thumbnail it and linking never seems to work right -_-;

I picked up a load of crochet thread at a yard sale. I am trying to crochet doilies. But all the patterns I have found so far only confuse me. Can any one please suggest a site where I can learn what I need to know in order to do this. I can do basic crochet and am learning more , but it is with yarn. I want to be able to do the doilies as well. Thank you.

I have been a member for a very long time, lurked for even longer, and posted here only twice before. I have been such a stranger to LJ lately, though, as I mainly just reserve any posts to my tumblr blog, but I thought you might enjoy some of my work anyway.

I have been participating in a personally-challenged "craft month," where I have entreated myself to make a new craft every day (not a difficult task for many of you, I know). I tried this once before, but it was hard to keep up during school because my room is so small. Now I just keep my things strewn about my room and pick up a project when the inspiration strikes me (a very nice, if not impractical, way to live! I will miss it). Anyway, I have been pretty lax about snapping the photographs, but I feel productive about the work I've done. Here's a big post of the wares I've captured so far. If you like what you see, I will remember to post the rest for you great crafters to see once I get the right light to take photographs.

Button clusters, a felt panda, a vintage-inspired fascinator, and miscellaneous jewelry this way! )

Idea help?

So does anyone remember picture day, when the teachers would hand you little mini black combs to fix your hair with. Yeah, the ones that are 3 or 4 inches?

I currently have 1000 of them.

What in the world can I do? I cant think of ANYTHING for the life of me.

Edit: my friend worked for one of those companies, Im a hair dresser so he figured I could use them.....yes....1000....ONLY reason why I have them. I swear, it's not because im crazy.

I was looking for reccomendations for good starting books or even websites for scrapbooking.

I've got lots of scrapbooking stuff, but I've only played around making a few cards or pictures I've still yet to make my first scrapbook. Well today I went crazy at Michaels buying stickers because I want to make my boyfriend a scrapbook for our one year anniversary.

I've got plenty of ideas and I love crafting but this is a really special project and since I don't know much about techniques for making it look nicer I thought I'd ask those with more scrapbooking experience. Its not for 3 months so I have plenty of time but I want it to look really nice.

I got super frustrated with both my knitting and crocheting this weekend so I built and painted stuff instead. And also watched LOTR and Harrison Ford movies, but whatever.

First I repainted a cork board I have had for ages. I painted the edges teal but thought the cork itself was ugly so I stained it with teal, black and dark green paints diluted with water.

Then I built a memory board. I used the back of a kitchen drawer we had sitting in the garage. I then used a staple gun to staple some quilt matting to the board, then the fabric (which you have to make sure is taut. After we dealt with that we had to figure out how to put the ribbon on. Most of my ribbon was too short to do the whole board so I used two different kinds: brown with burgundy polka dots and white with gold fleur de lis on them. It turned out perfect for my 8x10 and 5x7s.

Sorry you have to go to another site to view the pictures. Lj's photo system makes me sad.
