Hi! This is my first time posting. I always hand make my Christmas gifts, and this year I decided instead of making jewelry, sewing or making soap like I normally do, I was going to be really ambitious and do paintings for my friends and relatives. I'm between 25%-75% finished with the others(I'll probably finish two more tonight if I can get motivated!), this is the only one I've completed so far...

Photobucket

It's a Paul Berthon reproduction on an 11"14" canvas done with acrylic. It's a little more flat than I'd like, but I love the colors!

Usually I burn myself out over the holidays because I pick something and then do it fifty bajillion times, so that by the time I get to the last person's gift, I want to burn the whole lot and send it to the 9th level of hell. Last year I didn't do that and this year I chose a craft that wouldn't make me sob, gnash my teeth and curse the fact I didn't become a hermit years ago.

My aunt bought me one of those one a day calendars and it was all origami. So I decided to do framed origami projects for all my friends. I didn't photograph one of them because the girl came to live with me and I had to have it wrapped before she came. Oh well. Be warned, several pictures behind the cut!

Good evening!

I recently acquired a good amount of "quilting fabric" for free. I was thinking of making some pot holders out of some of the pieces as gifts, but I don't know what this fabric is made of. Is this fabric going to melt to someone's pots and pans?!

For a christmas present, I made a tie, and now I need to put a lining on the back. However, I don't have great sewing skills, and have no idea how to do this so that it doesn't effect the knitting but also looks like a clean seam. Can anyone give me any hints? Thanks!
