The time of the year has come and I've been gathering all the stuff I need for my Halloween costume which this year will be Miss Argentina from Beetlejuice (the receptionist in the underworld's office). I think I have everything ready but what I am going to do about the whole green body paint thing.

I thought about a bit of cream or make up mixed with green eyeshadow but it doesn't seem to stick as much, and I'm afraid that professional body paint is too expensive and a bit too harsh to my skin which is very sensitive. Do you know of anything else I could use? :(

Hey all!  I saw this comm on lj spotlight, and pounced.

So, I'm new to this comm, and sorta new to crafting.  I've always been crafty (drawing, painting, collages, and sewing) but lately I wanted to get into it more.

I was thinking of getting a sewing machine.  I have never used one, so I'm afraid I have no clue about them.  All the sewing I've ever done, I've done by hand.  My projects come out fine, but they are very time-consuming!

Do you guys have any recommendations on which brands/models might be good for a newbie?  I've seen the ones they have at Target; they seem kind of cheaply made, but they might work fine, for all I know.  We have a Jo-Anns's in my town that has a large sewing machine section, but to be honest I feel a little intimidated!  I want to get the best one I can, with my small budget.  (and by small budget, I mean... SMALL.  Like an I-work-at-a-coffee-shop small lol).

Thanks for helping!

A couple of my friends bands had a show the other night, and it was supposed to be a costume party. I didn't find out about the costume aspect until about an hour and a half before the show, so I decided to just paint my face and wear fancy clothes, a la Jose Guadalupe Posada's Calavera Catrina. Of course, I was the only one to dress up, but I think that made me the coolest person there, haha. I ain't afraid of no costume!

Anyhow, I thought I'd share. I used Mehron liquid AND cake for the white parts (I poured a bit of the liquid onto the pan cake). The black is Snazaroo pan cake. The rhinestones are sticky gems from Target's dollar bins.

By the way, everybody loved it.

(I hope the cut works.)

Clickly clicky clicky. )

I fixed the cut. Happy face.

Hello all! I'm new to the community, and wanted to post some pics of a necklace I just finished today. This was made for a friend. The bird skull was sculpted and painted using polymer clay, the bird nest was made with copper wire and the scarab and the rhinestone chain are vintage findings.

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here and rather than just join and lurk, I wanted to share a tutorial that I posted on my LJ a while ago:

Find it HERE!

Making them was a bit of an experiment really. I made them for a window display, as it was decided real ones would be eaten (as it happens, the shop did have some real ones...which did indeed get eaten. Sadly not by me!)

Any suggestions on how to make the little bump that French Fancies have on top are welcome!
