Hi crafters. You have no idea how thrilled I am to have found this community, especially considering the crafting journey I have recently undertaken. See, I've always been a fairly handy, creative person. I refinish my own furniture, I paint, I sculpt. I can hold my own in the craft-y department. But after a tragic 7th grade home-ec accident in which I accidently sewed shut the sleeve of the shirt that I was currently wearing and thus attached myself to the machine, requiring Ms. Morris to save me, I've been terrified of sewing.

Fast forward 15 years, and I finally decided it was time to face my fear, and used a well timed gift card to buy this bad boy. To say the least, it's been an experience. So I figured I'd show off my first creations.

Toothless Says Hi )

Toothless had me feeling ballsy, so I decided to try my hand at something I could actually bring out in the light of day. Just a simple tube skirt with an elastic top:

So, any good pattern suggestion for (slightly less fearful) novice sewers?

It's my first post here, hope it works.
This is a graduating owl I made of fimo clay. The photo is taken before baking it at 110°C for 30 minutes. The funny owl will go to decorate a scrapcard we'll make for Bianca's graduation in early November.
Sorry for low quality but I am a beginner still..

I have finally gotten on the "Pandora" bandwagon (that is, lampwork beads with a bigger hole, to fit the Italian style charm bracelets such as Pandora, Biagi, etc). These beads are made by hand, by me.

Your friendly neighborhood moderator here,

Since we've been spotlighted twice in less than a month we've gotten quite a few new people so let me give ya'll a quick rule reminder:

No selling/advertising/buying/trading. This includes advertising, references to Ebay/Etsy shops and listings, selling journals, or on-line shops. This is a very strict rule and we will delete posts and ban people for repeat offenses.

When posting large pics, multiple pics (more than 2) or long posts you MUST use a cut tag. You can learn how to make one here If you still can't figure it out then ask a mod for help (you can find our info on the user info page) before posting.

If you haven't done so already please go read our rules in full on our user info page

If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments :D

Now back to the crafts!
