Help with choosing a paint & poster materials

Hello!

This is my first post here, and I've read over the rules and I think this type of post of ok. I browsed the tags and wasn't able to find anything that was helping much. 

I'm looking to make a few inspirational quote posters like this one: http://tinypic.com/r/33w7d09/5, and I'm not sure where to begin. I have a few craft stores in my city, but as for brands/types of product, I'm lost.

So, is there a specific type of spray paint one would use for posters? And should I be purchasing standard sheets of poster board or is there a certain type of paper that would work best? For the letters, I'm think of just buying a stencil of letters so that I can keep reusing it, but if anyone has a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it.
