envelope glue

You know that glue that you're supposed to lick on envelopes? Is there a glue similar to that glue that you can find in stores, or is it some secret envelope-only formula that the world will never know about? It's pretty strong for something you just wet with your tongue (or in my case, with a q-tip dipped in water) and it would be great to use on magazine envelopes and other small minor projects that require a good but simple adhesive.
