Nov. 25th, 2003 09:41 pmhey, i'm new here.
i have a question for anyone who can offer me an answer, though it's not really a craft, just an art project.
my problem is about what kind of paint to use (specifically on clay).. what will or won't peel off, what can be layered, and what glosses work well...
so what i'm working on right now is a life size sculpture of myself (just my head, that is). the clay i'm using is sculpey. i want to paint it with oil paints, because i'm much, much better with oils than i am with acrylic, but i don't know how well oil paints will stick to the sculpey? would it help/hurt is i put gesso on it first? and i have freckles (that for once i will atempt to put on), and i was thinking of either using watercolor of watered down acrlyic, and splattering it on the sculpture after the initial painting is done. will either of those kinds of paint stick to/show up on the oil paints?
and does anyone know a kind of gloss i can use that will be REALLY shiney? for the eyes, so they look watery all the time? i'm taking a trip to get some more supplies tomorrow, but i have no idea if there's a difference in the glosses.
here's a picture of what it looks like so far, just so you can see what i'm working with:

thanks in advance for any help.
