Creativity needed

My best friend and I are revamping her old coffee table. We took the legs off (they were ugly ratan) and got some beautiful legs at Home Depot. We painted the top and will be painting on a scrabble board this weekend. Now here's where you all come in.

I need a creative way to make tiles for the game. I was thinking that I could make marble letters. You know, the flat marbles, glue on letters and their value... Only problem is that when we sit around the table, I think it would be pretty difficult to see the letters through the rounded glass. So I need something funky and cute, but completely workable at the same time.
