i was at micheals, where i never really go but they had the terra cotta pots i needed and i wasnt driving 30 minutes to get cheaper pots, and waste gas money. it worked out. anyway.
so im there getting the stuff i need for my moms present (mosaic flower pots is one part, more on that later)
and i find a how to knit kit by lion brand yarns and boyle. its...great. good instructions. has needles and all that good junk (half of it i have no clue what it is anyway) the book is really clear and...it makes the whole thing easy. i just have to... practice more.

so. my moms presents this year = terry cloth and fleece robe im making (this is the easy one. sadly)
two terra cotta pots mosaiced for the front porch (which shes proud of since she built the walkway out of old barn-wood herself. its really nice. shes handy like that. haha)
the ones we have...are nasty. pretty flowers. ugly pots.
i want to make her some marble magnets of the cats (because she loves the cats too much) but i have to take pictures of them first.

i had an idea for a marble magnet type thing the other day. a chess board/checker board type thing.

get a cookie sheet or something like that (metal. yep) and glue checkered fabric on it. make side areas at the sides (to put pieces taken on)

for checkers = red and black marbles. easy enough.

chess = clear/slightly tinted. red/white. or whatever colors. use pictures OR names of pieces (rook= picture of a rook OR the word rook) the word would probably work easier.

and the chess can double as checkers too.
easy travel game!

and one.last.thing. i saw these...kits at micheals. gingerbred houses, but they were made of sculpey. premade houses and you buy the decorations to put on. now. im not into spending too much money on a non-food gingerbred house for my grandma (i think she'd love it) and...crafty is better than storebought with gramma always. so im going to make her a little gingerbread sculpey house. and decorate it all cute and whatnot. i think the g-parents will love it.

oh. AND I SWEAR THIS IS THE LAST THING.
my mom bought this cast iron table for in the living room, as a present for my dads birthday (but more one of those things she liked but decided to give it to my dad. my parents are like that. he buys new attachments for our johndeere back-hoe thing for a project she wants him to do for her birthday, she buys furniture for the house for his) and she was putting our clovis ...arrow..cutting tool thing (something native american he found on our property and the musuem verified its... quality and that junk) shes putting it in the table to display it. when he usually keeps it locked in a firesafe box with the papers and the other arrow heads he found. so shes arranging them and keeps asking me if it looks ok. and out of no where i hear her yell I HATE CRAFTS.
i dont know why it just cracked me up. because shes...crafty, but in a more 'build the barn and paint it pink' type crafty.
and do a crappy job painting it at that. =D
