design detail

this is very easy to make!!

***EDIT*** i'm adding instructions by request... pardon my lack of technical terms lol

materials:
- random fabric pieces, including one large enough for the back (i just used the solid green fabric)
- stuffing
- ribbon (we used the kind that has the wires, but any kind will work)
- bells (optional)

instructions:

1. cut out triangles of fabric to desired size (ours were isocelese triangles w/ a base of 10cm and height of 10cm and we used cardboard as a template)

2. arrange triangles in desired pattern (use the pic as a guide, but if you can't tell.. row 1: 3 triangles, row 2: 9, row 3: 7, row 4: 5, row 5: 3, row 6: 1). i tried to arrange them green-red-green-red, but randomness is good.

3. sew first row of triangles together with about a 1/16 inch (or so) seam allowance. then continue w/ remaining rows. press seams open or to the side w/ iron.

4. sew row 1 and row 2 together with 1/16 inch seam allowance. then add on row 3, 4, 5, and 6. press seams down (or up, whatever you like, as long as they are ironed)

5. you should now have the front piece sewn together in a christmas tree shape. trace this christmas tree shape onto whatever fabric you are using for the back. cut out back material and pin it to the patchwork, wrong sides together.

6. sew 1/16 inch seam around the pillow, but leave a hole somewhere so you can turn it inside out(i left mine on the side).

7. turn pillow right-side-out and get all the corners all pulled out. fill the pillow w/ poly filling (whatever it is called), and sew up the hole you left in the side.

8. BOWS: cut a piece of ribbon (approx 7 in long or so). get a needle and thread (i doubled the thread over twice b/c it kept breaking, so it might be better to use some thicker thread... a long needle comes in handy too), and tie a knot in one end. attach the ribbon to the pillow from the front, go through to the back, and come back up to the front, pulling tightly so there is a little indent in the front and the back, and then secure a knot. now tie a bow with the ribbon (i did bunny ears styliee) and cut the extra tails on the bow so they aren't too long. repeat for remaining bows (again, look at picture for guidance on where they go)

9. bells: these were a bitch to put on and i dont really have any reccomendations on how to do them. i did them opposite the ribbons by bringing the needle up through the middle of the bow from the back, looping a bell on the front, and going back through the middle of the bow to the back of the pillow and securing a knot. maybe you can figure something else easier :)

10. enjoy!
