help pleeease

I am going to make my boyfriend some gifts for his birthday and so far my ideas include:
- mix cd
- a picture frame
- a journal

i need some help with this journal. im going to make a new cover for one. i am planning on writing out song lyrics to a song in all different kinds of writing, printing, cursive, all that good stuff, then cutting each word out and putting it on the cover.
i dont know what i should use to put the words on the journal. glue? if so, what kind? would tape be easier? then what should i use to go over it all so it wont mess up?

so please help me out! you girls are far craftier then i! also if you have any other ideas of something to make, please let me know.
