so i am not sure where to put this, and if it's off-topic please feel free to delete it!

anyway- my bf's birthday is in 2.5 weeks (killer, right after christmas). anyway, i got a new ring to replace my old plain gold Claddaugh ring and he always mentions how he wants my old one. Now, he obviously can't wear it because it is tiny. However, I know that it is possible to take existing jewelry and convert it. DOes anyone have any experience with this? Can you do it yourself? (even though I would be scared to...haha). If not, where can you get it done? And what would you suggest I convert it to? I was thinking some kind of necklace. oh, and how expensive do you think it would run if i did myself or if another place did it?

btw, if you can't figure out what I mean- people do this a lot with old wedding/engagement rings if they get divorced (it was on Sex and the City). I know rings with stones get converted into earrings/broaches a lot.
