Wedding Craftiness
Jan. 7th, 2004 06:14 pmA while ago I posed about a floral letter wreath-type-of-thing...
my creation has been made!

I took two pieces of thick cardboard that was used for boxing my kitchen table when I bought it and made the B pattern and glued them together... then went to one of those exclusive crafting stores (you know, the kind you have to have a membership to and be a crafter or something because they don't charge tax on what you buy - my future sister in law runs her own woodworking/craft business so that's how I got in!) and bought a big box of 100 red carnations. I cut the heads off and glued them down with hot glue to the cardboard on the front and edged it on the sides (except the bottom where it sits)

My other project was my petal cones... turned out pretty nice, except the basket I have them in doesn't want to hold them upright. It's a big shallow basket so they fit well enough, but I can't get them to stay standing long enough to get all of them put in and put the petals in when it comes time for the wedding (10 days away!) Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get them to stay better? I thought about taking some foam board and putting a bunch of holes with a drill in it or something and propping it up a bit so the tips of the cones can go through the holes and stand up, but I won't get enough holes to put 180 of those things into the basket...
Just thought I'd share! I have more to show (got a sewing machine and figured out how to do monograms, and made my pew bows and other decorations) but I'll post them after the wedding when I get more time and more organized!
