Hi guys,
I wanted to share with you my experience making bath bombs as Christmas presents this year. It went well, though I did have to drive about a bit finding ingredients. I used Brenda Sharpe's recipe and a soap mold that I got at Michaels. The Citric acid is the hardest thing to find, the rest I got at the grocery store. Fortunately there is a brewing supply store near me in Cambridge (The Modern Brewer) where I was able to get 5 pounds of citric acid powder for $17 (not nearly as expensive as Brenda makes it out). I have plenty left now for future batches.

The first batch I made wouldn't hold together, even after 2 days of drying, they would crumble when picked up. Adding more oil didn't help either. So I used one of the other recipes that said to use Witch Hazel. I put it in a spray bottle and would mist the mixture as I was mixing it with my hand, after 5-6 mists (keep it mixing or the fizzing will start), it was wet enough to cake well. so I packed the molds and in 10 minutes they had hardened quite well. I misted the outside a few more times to harden it a bit extra. A week later they were perfect. I never would have though of making bath bombs, but you guys gave me the idea and it was a lot of fun.

Thanks!
