I went craft shopping today. Behind a cut, just in case you don't wanna hear about it.

I've been inspired by [livejournal.com profile] burnt_the_plans with her altered picture frames, so I went out craft shopping today.

I went to Dollar General, and I was looking for a photo frame with a flat front. Didn't see any at all! I ended up with this square picture frame. It's probably 6"x6", and it has a little oval for a 2.5" by 3" picture. It had a really cheesy modge podged picture of a flower on the front. It was only $1, so I bought it. I also saw a cute journal for $1 that had some morning glories on it. I paid for those items, then moved onto Britt's Crafts & Occasions (formerly Ben Franklin's with lots less than Ben Franklin's ever had).

I was still looking for flat photo frames. They had a ton, and the cheapest was $10, and I'm not paying that much, just to alter one. I got some random frames for like $3. I'll work with them. I found some buttons for the original frame I found at Dollar General. They are those themed buttons in various shapes/themes you see at Michaels and Hobby Lobby and other places. I picked up the last on in Valentine's Day, and got on in Pink Things From The Past. The V-Day ones had hearts, cherubs, and some other cute things. The Pink Things had cameos, silk flowers, etc. They are in a pink/antiqued theme. I clipped the backs off today. They are now flat, so I'll just glue them on with my E6000. I bought some paint to paint the first frame. I got English Lace, I believe. It is a light ivory color, but it has a hint of peach. It is light enough that it looks gorgeous with the buttons. I'm going to paint that, and give it to my mom.

The other frames, I will decorate on for my dad, and leave the other one for later. Also, the journal, I'm taking it and filling it with random things for my mom. She is my best friend, and I would die for her in a heartbeat, so I need some poems, drawings, etc. to put in there. I love ones that make you cry just to read. This is going to be an ongoing project I expect to be done in time for Christmas.

So what's everything think about all that? I think I did pretty good!
