Feb. 28th, 2004 01:40 pmThis is probably a stretch....
But has anyone ever made clown pants with a hula hoop as the waist?
I had good intentions when i attempted this. i didn't make the rise (crotch to waist) "deep" enough, because i guess in my head i didn't really factor in the fact that the hula hoop would stretch it out, and make it more shallow. I also tapered the legs a bit too much, so they didn't fit.
I've never made any sort of pants before, though, and i was going without any pattern. I have to buy more fabric at some point to re-attempt this, but i was wondering if anyone could think of any pointers/tips for making pants for my next try.
I suppose as a disclaimer i'll add that my dad is a clown for the Shriners, and they have to provide their own costumes, and i'm attempting to make these for him as a sort of "surprise"...so he'll have something different before all the clown events start up this spring.
