i was having a problem finding fabric i liked to match my newly redecorated bathroom so i did this with the roller blind that was already there:

this is the detail of the trim and the valance:

  

for the roller blind, i just sprayed the fabric and blind with spray adhesive and stuck the fabric down (pressing out the bubbles as i went). leave about an 1" on all sides to fold over to the back and glue down. for the valance, i just hemmed a piece of fabric and stapled it to the underneath part of the window frame so you can't see the staples when it's hanging down.
