i am making this blankie dolly.... i made the head the other day... and it's just sitting on the desk... hehe. i think it's much too large though... i really wasn't thinking when i made it. i think i'm gonna make that one into another doll and make a smaller doll for the baby.

i am also gonna make the hat & hair today, i think.... & try & hem the edging on the cutie celestial flannel i bought for the body... i hate straight stitching. i'm so much better with my hands than with the machine, but the machine is way faster... *sigh* the fabric is sooo sweet tho... and i got some soft varigated cotton yarn for the hair...



my sister has the first doll i made... i made it in 7th grade... i went to waldorf then, and we had a handworking class where we all had to make dolls. dolls aren't so hard... it's the clothes that kill me... i need to get better at sewing... i hope i can get a sewing machine of my own when i get my own place...



the idea for the specific doll i am making came from magic cabin dolls... it is a fabulous site with lots of handmade babydolls. kinda pricey tho. they do sell patterns (and supplies) to make pretty much anything on their site tho.... but i am just winging it. i'm far too impatient to wait for the pattern.. hehe. the site is adorable even though it has no photos (i grew up seeing these, so i know what they look like in person already), but it has to be the slowest *bleep*ing site ever.

anyhoo... the doll i'm making should turn out similar to this:
