craftgrrl | Un-cleating the cleats

Today I went to the Salvation Army and found these AMAZING cleats! They're so awesome... and they're pink.

Anyway, I want to remove the spikes. I don't really want to go buy that special tool that my mom said I have to use... does anyone have any suggestions? I want to wear them tomorrow, but obviously, I can't.

Oh, I tried to twist them with pliers, no luck. Same with the pulling. They just won't budge.
I've been thinking of removing the sole and seeing if they screw in, but then the sole will not be glued in as well anymore, which would stink.
