Please pardon the imageless post, but I need your advice!

I'd like to work as a Halloween costumer this year, and I would like to start advertising now. My question is - what should I charge beyond the cost of materials? I figure folks who want a costume made are willing to pay well for it, but how well? Should I charge an hourly rate? Also, can anybody provide an example of a basic contract for this kind of work, so that I (and, admittedly, the customer) am less likely to get screwed?

One more note: I'm planning on keeping the advertising in my workplace, in the hope that my coworkers will be a bit more reliable than random strangers on Craigslist.
