[identity profile] ladybean.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
I'm moving in to a new place on Dec. 1st and I'm allowed to paint anything I want! That includes doors, frames, walls, (not much I can do with the nasty ugly rusty carpet atm), etc.

I'm looking for some idea's/colour schemes for each room. I just took pictures today and the 1 hour photo place won't have them ready until tomorrow (duh), but when I get them I'll post them. There are 3 bedrooms, the master has a half bath and a walk-in closet. Each bedroom has 1 window with a frame and a closet. Mine is the master, Wayne and Jeff have each of the others.

Kitchen - yellow
Living Room - blue/beige
Dining Room - blue / ? (it's connected to the living room)
Hallway - Red ?
Wayne's Room - Green / blue ?
Jeff's Room - No idea
My Room - Lighter shades of purple to match the quilt I'm half done with
Washroom - Light burgundy / Rose
Inside Hall Closets - White ?

Bedrooms - Should I paint the walls white and the window/door frames and baseboards another colour? Or should I paint the walls the colour and do the frames in white? I have to keep in mind that the windows will have mini-blinds and a valance. If I have white frames and a green valance, won't white or green mini-blinds look odd? I'm thinking it would be best to have darker mini-blinds for each room because we all work nights and sleep most of the morning. I'm trying to find a way to balance 4 things for each room - walls, blinds, window frame, window valance. I've done this once before and used white window frame, white blinds, coloured valance and it looked great. I'd like each room to be consistent with the other, or would it be more interesting for each room to have individuality?

I'm also pondering using wall murals. I could kind of create each bedroom as if it were a web page and give them themes based around the colours selected. Maybe have one mural on each bedroom wall? I could get the image on transparent paper and use a projector to get it on the wall, or just draw it free hand. Either way works. Getting the image to draw on the wall is the had part. Nothing too complicated, just something tasteful, attractive, interesting, yet simple.

As for the living room, there's one big wall that's blank and I'd like to put a mural on there as well. It would have to be a big one because it's a pretty big wall.

Any ideas anyone can throw my way would be GREATLY appreciated :) Thank you in advance!
