When finishing a quilt, you have to sew the front down to the back so it doesn't slide around and such, right? (besides using ribbon/yarn to do it)

How on earth do you cram a quilt into your sewing machine to do it? There's just not enough room I don't think for doing that!

And what color thread should I use so it doesn't look awkward? The squares are a solid orange, and a patterend jungle themed green... do I use orange thread? Green thread? a Metallic gold or silver thread so as not to clash with any of the colors?
