Crafting with wood.

For Christmas last year, I decided to try something new for my dad's present. I took this piece of wood (shh, it's just a picture of the back)...

...and I painted it with black acrylic paint. I then took some of those nifty wood carving tools and carved slices in the wood to make a howling wolf.

It was incredibly fun to do and easy to pick up after I got the hang of it. If you ever do this, just be sure you put something on the ground (like a towel) or work in an area that's easy to sweep up, the wood shavings can be a mess.
