christmas countdown
Nov. 14th, 2002 03:19 pmhave any of you guys ever used "anita's" decoupage products? i bought some today, and they seem promising...like it might get a lot harder than modge podge...you have to buy the glue and the polyurethane varnish separately. on the bottle for the varnish it says "durable semi-gloss varnish for furniture, accessories, floors and decoupage". if it can go on floors, it must be pretty hardcore.
at michael's, they have these little wooden boxes that are 2/$1 this week! they're very cute, although the clasp/hinges are pretty cheap-looking. (i think they're miniature versions of the box that someone posted a picture of that they had decoupaged earlier this week). i just decoupaged my first one, and it looks awesome. i bought a bunch, and i'm going to paint/decoupage them, and then put those little marble magnets inside of them and give them as gifts.
the other thing i'm doing for christmas is bath products! i've been scouring thrift stores (and pier 1, let's be honest) for cool bottles, and then i just blew $70 at majestic mountain sage (the-sage.com) on different things with which to make stuff. i'm going to make bath salts (you take sea salt, fragrance oil, coloring, and mix it together) bath oils (mix oil with fragrance, than add coloring/flowers/whatever you want to make it look pretty) and bath bombs (instructions found on megan.scatterbrain.org/notmartha). there are more precise instructions for the first two on the magestic mountain sage website, plus more ideas.
i'm also knitting my sister a scarf, and hopefully i'll have time to finish a hat or something for my dad, who just got a card from me for his birthday. :(
i love reading about what everyone else is creating...keep it coming.
