Notebooks for school, cool-ified!

Okay. I got 3 new notebooks for school, and being the "craftgrrl" I am, I decided that some decoration was in order. At first I decided that a nice little collage type thing would be nice, but I soon realized that I would get bored of it. I needed something simple on my notebooks that I wouldn't get too tired of. :) So, I decided on stenciling.

More behind the cut.

"Mommy, where do pretty notebooks come from?"

My notebooks look like this:

except, well, they're grey and black. I got a 1 subject grey notebook, and a 3 subject grey, and a 3 subject black. I like em :)

Anyways, for my first notebook, I used a beautiful stencil of Audrey Hepburn. This one turned out the best, I think. Please forgive all ugly pictures. Done w/ shoddy webcam.

Second notebook, a GIRAFFE! (Whee!)

(Two pictures? I have no idea why...)

Third notebook (It didn't turn out as nicely as I hoped it would, but it'll do!):

The quote reads: "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly: what is essential is invisible to the eyes."

Two points to the person that can tell me who the little boy is, and where he's from. (Hint, you get once answer, you get both the answers! Don't you love games like that?)

How I made these:
Basically. I found the stencils I wanted. Resized them to how large I wanted. Printed them out on regular paper. Used CARBON PAPER (yay, love that stuff) to transfer the outlines onto the notebook. Then painted the outlines in with acrylic paint. Voila. All there is too it. I only spent half the day working on the notebooks. (Teehee, I'm picky when it comes to stencils. Also, I redid the 3rd one about 5 times. It started out as being a lily, and then a rose, and then a "Bush is an idiotic dictator" type thing before I settled on something less...flame-like. Lesson? Nail Polish Remover gets rid of acrylic paint extremely well with a tissue and a bit of work.)
