Recycled earrings
Aug. 20th, 2004 10:27 amI just started making earrings a few weeks ago, and here are the first three pairs I've ever made, in order.
I wish I had taken a better photo of these, but I can't do anything about that right now. The glass at the end is actually from these hideous chandelier light fixtures that were in my parents' house when we moved in literally ten years ago, and I've had a bunch of them ever since. More proof that I've always been and always will be a craft packrat.

Another pair made with old, salvaged materials. I don't know for how long I've had these purple stones--perhaps even longer than the glass chandelier pieces. My boyfriend said these earrings are "funny." Shows what he knows.

These I made just last night, and they're my favorite. The starting materials: An old pair of star earrings, hooks, jumprings, and two charms I bought on clearance at a local department store. I didn't actually use the chain in the picture, I salvaged the chain from the old earrings.

Very nautical, wouldn't you say?

Does the large jump ring connecting the chain to the hook in all three pairs detract from the earrings? Now that I look at these pictures I kind of think it does.
Opinions welcome, but please keep in mind that I just grabbed some jewelry findings and pliers and went at this project with no prior experience, so any advice is wonderful.
