Here is the pattern for the cat ears as requested (my first pattern, so keep that in mind):

Materials:

I used size 10 needles and regular cheapo red heart yarn.

Headband:

Cast on 60 stitches. Make 7 rows of stockinette stitch and cast off.

I added triangles at the ends of the headband to attach the cords, but it’s not necessary.  I cast knit 7 stitches and decrease by one on each side for each row.

So, basically the triangles are:
Row 1:  knit 7
Row 2:  p2tog, purl 3, p2tog
Row 3:  k2tog, knit 1, k2tog
Row 4: p3tog and pull yarn through last stitch to cast off.

Ears:

Change colors as shown in chart below for 2 ears (front of ears).  Make 2 more ears using only one color (outside color used in chart. In chart above - dark blue) for backside of ears.

Row 1:  Cast on 13
Row 2:  Knit 13
Row 3:  Purl 13
Row 4:  k2tog, knit 9, k2tog
Row 5:  p2tog, purl 7, p2tog
Row 6:  k2tog, knit 5, k2tog
Row 7:  p2tog, purl 3, p2tog
Row 8:  k2tog, knit 1, k2tog
Row 9:  p3tog and pull yarn through last stitch to cast off.

You should now have 2 ears that resemble the chart and two solid color ears.  Take a front ear part and a back ear part and put them together w/ the good side (knitted side) facing in.  Hem the ears together around the sides, but leave the bottom open.  Then pull the ear right side out.  This makes them more puffy.  Do the same with the other two ear pieces.

Cords:

Basically, you can do whatever you want for the cords on the side of the headband.  You can make I-cords for each side or braid a cord.  At the end of the cord attach a pom-pom.

Putting it all together:

This is the easiest part.  All you have to do is attach the cords to the ends of the headband and the ears.  You can attach the ears to the knit or purl side of the headband.  It's up to you, just make sure that both ears are on the same side!  I think it is better to attach the bottom of each ear so the 2 flaps are a few rows apart.  This helps the ears stay puffy.  Now you’re done!  Feel free to annoy cat by making her try them on first before wearing them yourself.  Also, let me know if you find any errors in this pattern.  I wrote it up pretty late at night, so there may be a few.

Sorry it took so long!
