How not to melt a parasol

I want to attach it to the currently bare light fixture in my bedroom:



My question:

How close can I put the parasol to the lightbulbs without fear of it melting or catching on fire. How do you figure out that sort of thing? I need to saw off at least part of the parasol's handle before I attach it to the light fixture, because if I don't, it's way too low and it looks stupid.

I need some crafty advice!
