suggestions, please.

about a week ago i bought a ring from target that i absolutely love. the second day i wore it it turned my finger green. i really don't want to return it and i'd prefer not to coat it in clear nail polish because of how easily it chips off with wear. is there anything else i can coat it with that will prevent it from turning my finger icky colors, preferably something that won't chip off easily? any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
