Shirt into Shrug

Hi

I have a basic long sleeved shirt that I want to make into a shrug/bolero/tie front/cropped kind of top. you know the ones i mean...? i want to keep its long sleeves also. is there an easy was to do this without cutting it up and sewing it back together a ridiculous amount of times?
