Fake Fur/Monster Fur

I need some help here.
Last week I got some of that...monster fur...fake fur...whatever...looks like this: (http://www.gothichaven.com/gothic_clothing/cyber_wear/cyber_thumbnails/cyber-monster-fur-hats-lilac.jpg)
I got it in this hot pink color and this black & white color.
I got it because it was on clearance...
I want to make small bags with it..nothing too crazy.
Perhaps...a few small bags in pink with the black handles and vice versa.
My problem is...I have never worked with this before. What do I need to know about making some simple bags? What do I need to line the bag with? How do I sew with it?
Will it be sturdy enough to hold the bag as a handle?

Also...how do you cut this? It is different then anything I have ever worked with before. Should I hand sew it or machine sew it?

I just want to make your basic rectangle purse...fold that in half and sew a strap to it. Unless one of you has a better suggestion. Heh.
