Seam Allowances
Nov. 5th, 2004 02:07 pmDoes anyone else have any trouble with seam allowances? It seems that every time I try to make something, and it tells me "leave such-and-such room for the seams," (I think most patterns I've read say 1/4 of an inch?) I screw it up.
And just what is a quarter of an inch seam on your sewing machine? When I try to sew things and try to use a given seam allowance, I always end up getting too close to the edge and then my sewing machine won't feed the fabric through...usually I just put the edge of my fabric on one of the lines and follow it, and didn't know if there was an easier way to follow the patterns besides just adding extra fabric for my allowances.
