Musing on Crafting
Nov. 8th, 2004 09:56 amSometimes I wonder how close I am to being one of those crazy-Appliqued-Vest -wearing ladies that does nothing but craft fairs. I am so overly cautious of making crafts that can't be misconstrued as "out-of-touch". I bet all those "decorative country craft" making women started off thinking that their crafting was cool and somehow fell into a world of Beanie Babies and Pony-bead scarves and Wooden Snowmen.
but maybe that's just me....
ed: I also think that the punk-DIY culture is being appropriated by the sort of "Desperate Housewives" set. I actually read something in a local Chicago Paper that said that women are cutting back on working in the corporate realm because it is just too hard and they're more interested in knitting booties and Monogramming towels -- ik! I don't want to be seen in that light either!
