I am addicted to Lush's bath bombs. But I can't keep spending half my paycheck at their online store. So I did some research and found out that they are easy to make. My first attempt was a moderate success. What I will change before the next batch:

1) I got the mixture a little too wet so some of them broke when I tried to take them out of the molds. Next time I'm cutting back on the almond oil to only 5 tablespoons.

2) I forgot that I didn't have any bergamont. I like lemongrass better when it is mixed with bergamont and lime. So these are just very very lemongrassy. They are ok but nothing special.

3) Let gravity work with me. When I took them out of the molds, I laid them on their sides and as they set up, they started to crack at the seam. So I gently turned them straight up and down. I only lost one. So now I have 4 round ones and 6 that are in halves. But they will be fine for me to use.

Here is the photo excursion complete with recipe and instructions if anyone is interested in trying it.

Lemongrass bath bombs

You can sub the lemongrass and sage with anything you like. Patchouli and orange is nice together.

And they fizz wonderfully. Just tried one.

Oh, and I got all the chemicals except the baking soda, cornstarch and sea salt at The Chemistry Store. I bought the essential oils at the aroma therapy outlet. Both were inexpensive (compared to lush) and had really fast shipping.
