I've been busy making things for myslef and my daughter for our holiday vacation. I'll post the pictures of the things for her later when I am done with them.

First is a graffiti cotton dress. I wanted it to look like a 70's dress. I used an existing pattern. I forget the patten number. I used white cotton for the lining. The printed white cotton is just sheer enough to see through on layer of so, it needed another layer of solid white cotton to prevent see through. Plus is gives added warmth which is good. I added a band of black stretch shine vinyl tot he bottom for added pop. I also made the sleeves slit at the bottom for 6" to give it some flare since I like flare and fitted sleeves bother me. I always push them up. There is a 20" long zipper in the back. I altered the bust and made it more flat. It was supposed to gather but, that style didn't work with my body type or the place I would be wearing it so, I just straighten out that seam.

Next is the camo print apron. this was also a premade pattern. I just altered placement of the front bust pocket and placed two on the butt of the apron. I also altered the amount of pleats for pockets in the front from 3 to 4 thinking that would come in more handy when working on stuff. I also made pot holder gloves to match.

I took an existing potholder and just traced it on a piece of paper. I then cut it out the pattern with an extra 1/2" for seam allowance. Using my pattern, I cut out 2 piece of decortive cotton fabric for the outside and 2 pieces of cotton fabric for the inside. I cut out 4 pieces of 1" thick batting using the same pattern. You want to make sure with the fabric that you have 2 opposites. a left and right so them sew together correctly. It won't work otherwise. I did something different for the following. I stitched around the camo print shapes and added a ruffle instead of bias tape. You can sandwich together one decortive piece, 2 pieces of batting and one piece of solid cotton. It should be common sense that the pieces should match up correctly. You want the decortive fabric with print side out. Same thing with the solid, correct side out. You want to pin the sandwich together securely at the edges. You will then with, your machine or by hand, stitch a diamond pattern. Stright line one way then the other. Do this to each set. Then take bias tape, you can get it at a fabric store or make you own if you wish, and cut 2 strips the length of your glove opening. Stitch them on at you glove opening, incasing that raw edge inside the folded bias tape. Then sew the 2 glove pieces together sith correct decortive sides togther. Stitch close to the edge, about 1/4"-1/2" inch away. Make sure that the stitches are tight and close together. Then flip the glove right side out and you are done.
