Materials: t-shirt, bra, paper bag, pen, elastic, scissors, and some sewing stuff

The bra I used didn't have any padding and was just made of 4 different pieces... outlined here in pretty pink lines :)

Sooo then you just lay the bra on the paper bag and trace around it. Easy, right? Thought so.

Then you cut out all the little pieces and have a pattern that we can pretend looks professional.

Cut your shirt open on the sides and trace the pattern pieces, like so. I always leave the bottom couple of inches free, because if you fold them in half and sew them up they make the perfect straps. For my bra I had to make 2 of all the pieces except the one in the middle. Remember to flip the pieces for the cups over when you trace the 2nd one, since the cups are mirror images of themselves.

And now we have all of our pieces cut out and ready to be sewn.

I doubt it matters what order you sew the pieces in, but I always do the bottom first...

And then sew the cups on.

Slap some elastic on the band here...

And all the way around here.
After that you just sew on some hooks and eyes (or, if you have old bras that dont fit anymore, cut the strips of fabric with closures off of there and sew them on your new pretty bra) and your straps- I make mine out of either the folded-over t-shirt strips or ribbon.

I also made this pattern for underwear the same way, and I've perfected the technique of getting a bra and underwear set out of a single t-shirt.

Mmm...green....
And before anyone starts, I was not sucking in. I was shrugging my shoulders up because the straps were too long and I didn't feel like fixing them before I took the picture.
