Trash it? or something else....
Jan. 21st, 2005 11:53 amI have been working on my first peyote stitch necklace, which is where you stitch seed beads into a tube shape (around a plastic tube for extra support & shape) I just finished the beading on it & will need to finish it off completely with a closure & all.
Since this is my first necklace there are problems with it.... I have been planning on putting charity auctions on my site & was thinking I would put the necklace there (and letting them know it was my first necklace).
But I just had another problem with it today & so now I am considering pulling out all of the stitches & just salvaging the beads! Should I give it away, just charge a little, put it up for charity, or trash the thing? Here is what all has gone wrong, for more information ~

(A bad picture, but it gives you the idea ~ the leaves two colors: green & metallic lined green)
I wanted to do more intricate patterns, & so my designs were wider than most of the necklaces I had seen. I got a lot of information from some great beaders before I started, but none of them had worked on one that wide. Because of the extra width, the curve difference on the outside & inside of the necklace is greater than normal, and beads on the inside of the curve like to pop out farther than the other beads. I don't think that would be a large problem for most people, but it will keep me from working that wide in the future!
That was the main problem, until today. Today I noticed that one of the stitches on the outside of the curve (where it has to stretch the most) had popped, which was easy enough to patch up but I am worried that it will do it again later. Rarrr! I would have run a second set of string through the entire necklace before, but since it was wider than most & I was planning on selling it I thought that would make the labor cost too high. I could go back & do that now, but do I even want to bother?
So, what do you think?
