Bottlecaps, bottlecaps, bottlecaps!
Jan. 27th, 2005 01:35 amAfter an interesting weekend, I decided to commemorate my adventures with my friends by turning the bottlecaps of two Smirnoff drinks into earrings. I peeked though the memories of
diy_tutorials and
craftgrrl and didn't find a project exactly like this one. My friends thought this was an outstanding idea and immediately offered up all of their bottlecaps for the projects.
The earrings are made with beads of many kinds, head pins and ear wires.
It is predicted that I might have set a trend on our small campus.
The pictures!

The colors aren't right. Meh. They are pretty earrings however. The red pair without the caps is just an odd pair I made for a friend who had no bottle caps to donate.
To make the earring, poke a hole though the top of the bottle cap around the rim. Place a bead larger that the hole on the end of the head pin for added support, and then thread the head pin through the hole you made in the bottle cap. Bead as usual and bend the headpin onto the ear wire loop, wrapping the end around the body of the wire (sorry if I am not clear. Ask if you need clarification.). You are going to need two sets of pliers (or, in may case, a leatherman and a micro pair of pliers) to bend the wire.
Thank you for looking!
