Planning on redecorating my room, and an idea for a rug!

My room is really small, plain, and boring. :x I've wanted to jazz it up for a while, but I can't paint it or anything, and space for furniture is limited. I've had a recent obsession with cards (like poker cards and stuff) and I had a few ideas, but I was wondering if anyone had any input.


-White christmas lights on the border of my walls where the ceiling and the vertical walls meet.
-Poker cards sticky tacked around the border of my room.
-Poker cards covering the ceiling.
-Red & black alternating bed/pillow sheets
-A Red or black beanbag
-http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ bunch of pictures to cover walls instead of buying posters
-AOL cds on the ceiling (you flip them so that the shiny side is showing, not the ugly picture on the top)
-Putting little shelves all around the room for:
---tea light candles
---bamboo plants
-http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=4986.0 Something like that for a bit of decoration.

Any ideas on reorganizing my room, also? :x I want my closet to be acessible and for things to just flow better. Here's a pic of my room layout, drawn in lovely MS paint.


I want to get rid of the bookshelf and the cabinet. :x



Take a LOT of straight strips of fabric (length depends on how big you want the rug to be), and braid three of them together. Keep doing this until you have... a lot of braided cords. When I say a lot, I mean a lot. :x Then, take the braids and lay like, half of them down horizontally, next to each other. Take one of the braids and vertically weave it in and out of the horizontal ones, going over/under/over/under, etc.

Does anyone get what I mean? XD It's hard to explain. I used to make placemats like this out of construction paper.. @_@ I can't really explain without a picture.
