I've decided against making my doll "goth". Too stereo typical of me. I wanted something that makes you do a double take. Nothing too scarey like teeth exploding from her head. But something a little more palettable. I bought a porcelain doll from Value village for 5.99. I'm going for a bit of a futuristic look, perhaps something doctorish/medievil cyberpunk. Woah lots of genres all slapped together in one mishalp of a sentance!

Her dress and body were stained, so I wiped a little bit of bleach over her, and saved her knickers for another doll, or to redress her. The dress was nice, but dirty and a waste of my time. I decided to scrap it. I might salvage the zipper though.
I ripped off her wig and gown, and have sanded down the glue on her head. She had a little skull cap. I ripped it off. Doll has a perfectly round hole on the top of her head. So I'm making her a brain. I will probably dye her body a tea color. and paint a heart on her chest with ink. I need to find some cute clothing for her. This brain will be awesome.
I would make a terrible doctor.

Its made out of sculpy. What I'm going to do is I'm going to use a pin to make all the folds more prominent and then i'm going to cook it. Paint it black, and then over paint it with a flesh tone. Then I'm going to spray it with sealer so its glossy and looks wet.
First what you need to do is make two flat discs out of sculpey. Just big enough to slip into the dolls head. You then take more sculpey and roll out LONG thin snakes. Then you just lump it up on top of the 2 discs. Winding and curling it about. Make sure there are no sections that are not even with other parts. Make 2 halfs of the brain which makes it easier to slip into the dolls head after baking.
Its not anatomically correct, but will look okay from the top. Its a bit flat, but I think that should be okay.

I still need to do a bit more scrubbing on the head portion and maybe grind dow nthe inside of the head so more of the brain is exposed. Still has some glue there. Its very hard to get off :\
Advancement on the doll.
I repainted her face, and glued the brain in tonight.

I used black india ink to line the lines of the brain, then i painted pink acrylic paint over it to get a fleshy look. Then I used a delta spray coat varnish on the brain to make it look wet and shiney. And I slipped a wad of bubble wrap into the skull stuck the brain in and inserted some super glue.
To repaint I just used alittle bit of acrylic paint. I will have to look for some sort of a sealer, because you don't want it scratching off. Nor do you want a shiney doll face.
I tried dying the body with tea, but it didn't take. So I will have to decorate it some how else. I've decided that she is going to be a bit of a nurse. A redcross fetish doll.
I hope to post more pictures as the work continues.
