today has been productive, kanzashi-wise...i still need to fold the laundry. here are my latest flowers, all life sized behind the cut!

this one was quite a pain. i can't remember the name of the fabric, but its shimmery, not opaque, a bit stretchy, and frays a bit when handled too much. ring a bell? this made interesting petals because the fabric doesn't lay on itself all pretty-like.

made with ten 3.5" squares, and centered with a matching covered button and more tricky fabric. here it is in action, and here's the shower curtain sample i cut to create this.

pretty pretty. its a red jacquard with gold dragons, got it at joanns during a sale, i should have bought more colors. this fabric is a million times easier to fold than the slippery stuff above and the fabric that i used to make the tarantula.

i used eight 3" squares for the bottom, and eight 2" squares for the top layer. with the help of another covered button and some very taught stitches this flower will forever be a double decker. i'm really pleased with how this one turned out ^_^

here's some upholstery flowers! i think these have a grannylicious feel, and they beg to be brooches. the fabric is from a large sample book provided for customers to browse though in upholstery shops. it was given to me by a retired upholsterer. for these, i naturally used floral samples by irvin-alan.

this time i used a different fold, and each is made with seven 3" squares. these were quick, just a few minutes each, after cutting. since i didn't want to use up all of my covered buttons all in one night, these are centered with fabric squares, nothing fancy.

all of today's flowers are glued to thin, round cardboard discs to hide the raw edges. this makes them easier to turn into pins and hairpieces, and helps ensure that the flower will not fall apart. thank you e6000!

this post has been made possible by this tutorial and my crafty hands <3

now i think my hands are warmed up and ready to fold that laundry
