The sewing monkey that lives within me
Feb. 28th, 2005 10:27 pmToday was my day off-
After procuring a spool of black thread, I set to using a 15 yard bolt of black polyester linen look fabric, courtesy of Wal*mart's $1/yard table.
Here is what I made:
Jedi/Hobbit/traveler robe: http://snipurl.com/d4mj (this took most of the bolt, it was pretty easy to make, and I lapped the hood seam, so there are no raw edges when the hood is done. Ditto on the neck)
Black Norman Tunic: http://snipurl.com/d4ml ( I trimmed it to match the dress it is layered with it, which I made just a couple days ago).
Long sleeved black tunic: http://snipurl.com/d4mo, I used reversible trim on the the hem and sleeves. THe sleeves and have 2 rows of trim, one row the "right" way, and the second row the "reversed"way.
And out of the scraps, came a tiny short capelet: http://snipurl.com/d4mm, It has a tall collar that is folded over in the picture, and closes with a button and loop. Far too small for me (I have man shoulders), but I have some petite, narrow shouldered friends it might fit.
And I finished it all in a span of about 5 hours, the robe taking the longest.
http://snipurl.com/d4ms is a collection of some of the stuff I've made over the past 5 years, 99.9% of it is renaissance or medieval styled clothing, some is fantasy. It is not a complete collection, but it's a majority.
