horse and pig play!

Hello! I currently work at a group home for individuals with disabilities. One of the woman in the house expressed that she liked horses, and I’ve been thinking of ways to entertain her. The best idea I came up with is to make a hand puppet of a horse. I was also thinking to make a pig for the other two ladies in the house so they wouldn’t feel left out. So my question would be if anyone could think of materials I might need? I’d want these to be durable enough that if they should need to be washed then they could be without a problem. So if you have any ideas please share :o). thanks in advance
