So, I had a t-shirt made out of fabulous fabric, but that was sort of horrible and sack-like. I cut it in half, and sewed the bottom to a waisband I made out of a t-shirt. I added an elastic casing next. Then I hand-sewed a piece of black satin ribbon around the spot where the two fabrics joined, but I couldn't sew all the way around because the skirt fabric is stretchy and the ribbon is not (duh!). I added a velcro closure to the end and left the last three or so inches not sewed down. This way the skirt could stretch for me to get in to, but the sash could fasten tightly around me once it was on. (For as simple as that is, it took me a couple of weeks to figure out. Bleh.) The bow is a strip of red net and a length of red ribbon together, and it's sewn down to the black ribbon sash.

Underneath I'm wearing this.

A friend with some printing experience says that this is a "moire". It seems to ripple whenever it shifts.
