Cute stocking idea.
Dec. 15th, 2002 01:21 amOh my gosh! I feel so ingenious. I had a couple of cheapy velvet-and-fur Christmas stockings - you know, the kind you can buy at CVS for $1.99 - and I decided I was going to use them as gift bag replacements, since I had a ton of little prezzies for my two best friends. I wanted to put their names on the stockings, but I've always hated how gloppy glitter looks on the fur. I was contemplating using thread and sort of loop-stitching the names on when I spied a baggie of long, silver foil chenille sticks. BINGO! I used my little wire cutters and some well-placed twists and made the letters out of the sticks. Now all I have to do is sew them on with some thin white thread. They look really, really cute (I don't have a digicam, or I would post some pics) and I'm thinking I can use them as part of my decor until we actually exchange presents.
I just realized that I sort of lucked out, because I only had to write "Chris" and "Bec," but if you used a thinner stick, you could probably spell out longer names as well.
Now I want to get another stocking and make myself one.
