I need help with my prom

I made this myself, and I've realised it's just missing something. I think it looks dowdy, the straps do at least. I wanted to cut them off and make it sleeveless but, alas, the lacing up the back comes up too high. Any suggestions?



(The flap wraps around the front and clips so when it's on, it doesn't look this way. It's fitted and flowy)
