Home Sewing Association Kicks Off National Sewing Month in September 2005
New York, New York - Sewing -- the alternative yoga. Sew says the Home Sewing Association, the industry creative and educational voice. The organization is introducing National Sewing Month in September 2005 with its new tag line encouraging consumers to try sewing and experience the relaxing and restorative powers afforded by this engaging activity.
Studies commissioned by the HSA have found that women who sew -- both skilled as well as novice sewers -- experience a significant drop in heart rate, blood pressure, and perspiration rate. It has also been concluded that activities like sewing stimulate a child's creativity and serve as an effective tool in building self-esteem.
"Sewing reduces stress in adults and gives kids a creative edge," explains Joyce Perhac, Executive Director of HSA. "So relax, pick up your needles and express your creative side! You will be sure to reap what you sew."
Throughout National Sewing Month (NSM), HSA is promoting the proven health and creative benefits of sewing to consumers at large. The public relations campaign will also be supported by advertising in key trade publications and through collateral materials at many sewing machine dealer shows.
"This is a concentrated effort to create solidarity behind an industry-wide promotion about the benefits of sewing," Perhac continues.

Perhac invites all facets of the trade to join the HSA in the promotion, "Feel free to utilize the print ready ads for handouts, press releases, home web pages and newsletters, "she encourages. "We're also offering a host of projects created just for NSM. It couldn't be any easier to get involved!"
