My first craftgrrl post
May. 21st, 2005 11:28 pmI do loads of crafty things, but this is probably more dressmaking/corsetry related... Anyways, I thought some of you guys would like it.
Here's my new corset on me.
I
I've been sewing all my life, but only made a few corsets. It's been a few years since I made my last one, so I am happy to have finally finished a new one now.
I've drafted the pattern and designed the whole piece from scratch. It is an underbust with a pretty high back, made of short pile zebra fur, pvc and satin lining. I've made my own bones from some scrap spring steel I got for free from my local hardware store. Beeing pretty broke, I didn't have the chance to get a busk, but I chose to use front lacing with the three buckles instead. I think it works well. I got the buckles from some old boots. I was a bit optimistic on how much I could lace down my waist, so it's a little on the small side... And I measured the hips a bit too far down I think... Anyways, I didn't lace it properly for these photoes, I need to break it in first.
On to the pictures, I hope you like it.

On my pillow, no front laces...forgot to put them on... He he.
